Who we are
A legacy of unity, culture, and progress for Bengaluru’s Kodava community.
Our roots. Our legacy.
For over a century, Kodava Samaja Bengaluru has been more than an institution; it is a living, breathing cultural home. Whether you are a student moving to the city, a family celebrating Puthari, or an elder seeking familiar warmth, this is your Ainmane away from Kodagu. We exist to keep our heritage vibrant, our community united, and our doors always open.
A legacy of belonging
Our story began in 1911 as the Coorg Association, when a small group of just eight families gathered to celebrate the Kailpodh festival. Today, we proudly serve over 17,000 registered community members across the city.
Thanks to the historic generosity of Maharaja Sri Jayachamaraja Wadiyar and the vision of our Chief Patron, Field Marshal K. M. Cariappa, we put down permanent roots in Vasanthnagar. Decades on, we continue to bridge the misty hills of Kodagu and the bustling heart of Karnataka.
Nurturing the future
While we deeply honour our past, our eyes are fixed firmly on tomorrow. Through our dedicated sub-committees, we actively support youth education, empower women, facilitate career placements, and provide essential medical welfare. We are not a museum of history, but a dynamic hub where the distinct Kodava identity evolves and thrives with every new generation.
Kodava Samaja Bengaluru is the roof under which our traditions are kept alive, and the bond between Kodagu and Bengaluru is renewed across generations.
Aims and objectives

We run premier institutions like Sree Cauvery School and College, with scholarships that back the academic aspirations of our youth.
Community relief
We offer medical aid, financial support, and employment guidance through dedicated welfare funds and placement cells.
Fostering unity
We act as the central Ainmane and unifying body for every Kodava sangha and family in and around Bengaluru.
